The idea for "Letters to Grandchildren' came from J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Father Christmas Letters' collection (a book) - here's a sample of one of his annual illustrated envelopes. I think I've now perhaps written and illustrated about 20 letters to my grandchildren.
